Results from the 2008 qualifiers

After a difficult season on the beaches, with cancelled matches and somebody shouting the cod are in, which meant our chosen venue was packed, we managed to finish the season with the third match on 31/01/09.

The qualifiers for Yorkshire region in the 2009 team final at Holyhead breakwater are Barney Burrell, Alan Walsh and Martin Bradshaw.

The first Yorkshire CSSC region match was fished at Hornsea with what looked like perfect conditions for a good catch of whiting, but it turned out to be a difficult match with not a lot of fish showing.

Results for the latest match on the 29/11/08, a disappointing turn out for the latest Yorkshire match with only 6 anglers turning out. The venue was changed at the last minute due to Mapleton beach being packed when we got there so we moved to Hornsea south beach. What looked like perfect conditions didn’t produce the fish and the result was.

The match was arranged for Withernsea north beach, but after an hour of trying to fish in a strong south easterly wind and anglers struggling to keep a bait in the water, it was decided to move to an easier venue.

So a vote was taken and it was decided we would move to Macro on the river Humber. The result was poor with only 3 of the 6 anglers who braved the conditions catching a flounder apiece.
