CSSC NOSAC

The CSSC NOSAC (CSSC National Open Shore Angling Championships) evolved from the Individual Codling Championships that were first held in Dover in 1993 and was first recognised by the CSSC as a national CSSC event in 1999.

From 2005 CSSC has kindly provided a grant to help run our event as a National CSSC Event. Being an 'open competition' no qualification is necessary and all CSSC members are encouraged to come along and take part. Over the years the NOSAC has developed into an excellent social as well as sporting weekend, being held at venues around the shores of mainland Britain. We present trophies and the entry fees go to tackle prizes. There is also an optional team of three competition.

Nosac 2010

Was held at Aldeburgh, Suffolk on 27 November from 12;00 till 18:00. A light NE breeze that brought snow flurries for the first couple of hours. Then the skies cleared with sunshine and later to reveal a starry night for the last two hours (after darkness). Snags were a problem with several angler loosing several sets of tackle. The pebble beach froze before we finished the match with temperatures around -5C by 6pm. Most anglers caught something even if undersize with lots of small whiting and dabs around. One codling showed up for Barry Davies who took the longest round fish prize. 4 anglers tied for the longest flatty and Martin Bradshaw took the longest bag trophy with 496cm. Our stay at the Ufford Park Hotel was comfortable and enjoyable. Local bait and prizes were purchased at Saxmundham Angling Centre

NOSAC 2009

Held at Dundee in the Tay Estuary on 3 October 2009. Dead calm the previous day and day after but as in 2006 we had to put up with 60 -70 mph winds throughout the competition. Weed was a problem and all fish were small averaging around 20cm. We stayed at the very comfortable Queens Hotel in Dundee that also treated us to excellent food. Our tackle prizes were generously subsidised by Anglers Choice where we also were provided with good fresh bait. Special thanks also to Dundee City Council for allowing us to park during the competition in a restricted area.

NOSAC 200
6

Was held at Otterspool, Merseyside on Saturday 11 November between 11.00  & 17.00. Thirty One competitors started this event. Congratulations to those who managed to put up with the extreme windy conditions and caught fish. It was not easy fishing and those in among the trophies had to work hard for them.  Results   Photos

NOSAC 2005

Was held at the North Beach, Bridlington.
What a wonderful venue but the weather was not kind to us whipping up a gale for two days preceding the match. Many competitors spent a lot of time in the bar as the weed in the water from the storm made fishing almost impossible. Well done to the three lads who managed to land a fish and in particular Steve Ball for winning it and scooping the prizes!

Results: (only three fish landed)
1 Steve Ball Hassra North West - Whiting 32 cm
2 Adrian Thomas RCSL - Bass - 30 cm
3 Simon Saunders RCSL - Bass - 29 cm
